Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday June 29th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

Today is within the weeks of School breaks for State and High school. Both Amy and Gary were not available as they had to mind their own kids for quality family time. Actually, Amy and the two kids have gone down to Adelaide to pay tribute and commemorate their Husband/father. A time that needs healing of God with Love and Peace. As a result, only Johnny and Hung were on duty. Both of us had a comparatively busy time though many of them are fruitless approach if not outright rejection. By the grace of God, there were still a few quality conversation especially for Johnny. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung: -

1 ) My first outreach was to an Aboriginal Granma and her Granddaughter. They were in a rush and using the bus waiting time to have their lunch. They however still welcome me to talk to them while they are eating. Basically, they are church going but not yet a believer, they could not pay full focus on my sharing, so I settle with wrapping up with the nutshell of the gospel and leave them finish their lunch box before the bus came.

2 ) Then I approach a Korean but he was not interested even though I tried to share just the nutshell of the Gospel.

3 ) Then cam a Local Aussie girl who was friendly and willing to have a chat, yet it was cut short by the quick arrival of her bus.

4 ) I approached a Mainlander Chinese, but he diverted the attention to his friend who is a devoured Buddhism follower. I tried to steer his mind to understand that all religion including Buddhism are good but do not address the issue of sin. He was two brain washed to insist that he needs nothing else other than Buddhism.

5 ) Then I caught up with A devout Christina from Solomon Island. He claimed himself a God lover praying all the time to God. But when tested if he has assurance of salvation, he only got 50/50 certainty which was gravely wrong. I had him clarified that it should be 100% as Jesus' redemptive work was 100% sufficient and effective to grant us the long-lost heavenly citizenship the moment we received Christ as our Saviour. He was pleased for this clarification and took a selfie with me.

6 ) Jacob was an ecumenical minded person claiming that all good person of whatever religion can go to heaven by their good deeds. It seemed that he is not fully agreeable even after my clarification.

7 ) Then I caught up with a woman from Mainland China大陸女,she was open to chat though still avoid telling me her name and her home town. Just share the nutshell of Gospel to her before the bus arrived.

8 ) I sat next to a Buddhism lady佛教女,she still refused to admit she is not good enough after her Buddhism education.

9 ) Two Hong Kong Compatriots, who are church going at UQ, but not yet a believers. They also was from Christian school background from Hong Kong. They anyhow admitted that the gospel is sensible and logical and our status as sinner is a fact though hard to accept. They thanked for my sharing and indicated that they are now more ready to become a Christian by simply accepting Jesus as their personal Saviour.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday May June 28st, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

Lately, many friends of us got infected with Covid. We anyhow still not being waived to stop but keep trusting God to do our street outreach as led by the Holy Spirit. Today, the weather was also fine but there seemed to have less people flow at the bus stop. I let Johnny and Winnie to take up more chances of conversation with me to pick up the overflow one. Recap is my shorter Battle log for the day.

1 ) Stephen is a local Aussie but had been to China three years ago before the pandemic. He was wearing a T shirt with the Shao Lin Ji logo and the 18 martial arts warriors that used to be the mentor of Shao Lin to test the Gongfu graduates if they can fight their way out to be a formally successful graduate. With his Gongfu loving attitude, I of course can easily catch up with him to share the Gospel. He possibly might think that my gospel message is likable with Chinese Culture favour. I any how stress to him that even the Gong fu master that are regarded as a people hero like th American captain, none of them are perfect that all human races are sinners that need the redemptive grace of Jesus. He anyway appeared quite receptive and happy to take selfie with me.

2 ) Chris whose parents are Christians so he is not strange to Bible story and gospel message, but he is not yet a believer. Yet, he is interested in life issues as I found out he i reading a book How to find real love in life, which could be similar to the Good Person tract. He is receptive to the Gospel message but not fully moved yet to accept the blessing of God through Jesus.

3 ) Then I approached Christy a girl from India for study. She answered the question wisely that no one good person is good enough. She apparently has some idea similar to the Christian theology but her bus came to end our meaningful conversation.

4 ) Jack with beard looks a bit hard to approach but it was wrong. He appeared very receptive to the Gospel. I was just able to finish the core of the gospel message when his bus arrived.

5 ) Cayor a boy from Ipswich with his big sister intending to go to UQ for a holiday fun visit. He was with his roller skate board so, I caught up with him for gospel while Winnie was taking to his sister. It was nice that I could use the good boy image to arouse his interest to see if being a good boy will earn him the way to heaven. It was a pity, there was not enough time to finish the full gospel message.

6 ) Finally, a Chinese guy who claimed that he had got the tract before, but he could not tell what it is all about so I just earned the chance to go through the gospel with him once again.

Battle log of Winnie:

It was great having a week’s holiday and spending time with my family.  God is so good.  But this week I was back on the streets! :)

It was so good being in church this morning and listening to the preacher teach from God’s word on prayer.  He used an illustration from the life of George Mueller that brought me to tears, and convicted me on my own lack of prayer and trust that God will actually answer.

Anyway, today as I made it to my regular outreach spot (cnr of Colombo and Cashel) as I set up my flipchart and sat down to pray, as per usual, I was so encouraged when God answered my prayer before I had even had the time to finish!  (Maybe I should pray BEFORE putting up my flipchart! :D )  Someone was standing in front of the flipchart, and I was straight into a conversation!

Later, Susan came to join me.  I was already deep in a conversation, but when it finished, I greeted her and suggested we pray… but before we did, we decided to move across the road to the sunny side (it was a warm day, but it was starting to cool down).  Low and behold, one of my regulars was there, and we actually got into a gospel conversation (he has heard it plenty of times before, but God hasn’t opened his eyes to it yet).  After that chat, Susan reminded me we hadn’t prayed yet!  So we sat down and did just that before getting into more conversations.

Soon after we prayed a young couple, who had talked to Susan before, turned up.  They were relativists, and were using it as a basis to make themselves god (so grievous).  It was mostly a friendly chat, but became very intense as I showed them how an absolute God must be real and the basis for the shared reality we are in.  They said the most absurd things (1+1=3 in my reality), and then would instantly contradict themselves (there is no right or wrong, but you are wrong).  In the end, they admitted they held their position so they can live as they like.  Sadly, the guy started to get angry with me.  When I calmly said there is no need to get angry, it only made him more angry, but he had to contain it, because it contradicted his argument for a world without anger!  It was frustrating and it was time for the chat to end.  They were polite as they left, but I was still feeling the sparks of battle.  Susan and I prayed for those 2 kids.  Sadly, they didn’t get to hear the law or the gospel, but I hope they will be challenged enough to be open to a reasonable discussion in the future.  God have mercy!

So many other great conversations today.  The last one was with a ‘Christian’ who was clearly pointing to his good deeds as the reason he was going to heaven.  I was able to gently, but pointedly show him that he is not currently a Christian, and explain the good news of how to become one!  I also had a full gospel chat with a young guy who identified himself as pagan.

Moving back in time, sadly, I wasn’t able to make it out to Riccarton on Saturday, but Roger and I were in the city on Friday.  It was a new public holiday in New Zealand, and there were LOTS of people on the streets that wouldn’t otherwise have been.  For some reason, I was feeling exhausted; I didn’t have the energy to get conversations started (like I did today).  So I just did my best to hand out gospel tracts to the people flowing past.  When Roger arrived it was great to see him enthusiastically engaging people (pictured).  At least one of us was able to!

On a whim, I decided to go for a walk and headed towards Cathedral Square.  It was providential, because I ended up encountering three kids at preacher's corner and having a wonderful chat with them.  Two of the three of them engaged really well, and we had a long gospel chat.
On Tuesday, Roger and I were at Riccarton.  This outreach was so long ago now that I can barely remember the details.  I’m sure I had some chats!  But I remember 2 things: 1) It was cold and got dark early (we have now passed the shortest day), and 2) Roger was having heaps of good chats!  (I tried to take some snaps, attached to this report).

I’m so grateful for the privilege of being able to focus on this work for the Lord’s glory.  Thank you for enabling me to do it, and please remember to keep us in prayer! :D

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday June 22nd, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

Today, the weather continued to be good. We had four persons turning up to serve at Sunnybank. So, Johnny and Gary teamed up to serve on the East side while Amy and Hung stayed on the West side at the Bus Stop. Again, God gave many meaningful and fruitful divine encounters to us. Recap is the Battle Log of Hung.

1 ) I first approached a Pakistan man who was friendly to chat. He admitted no one is perfect so he accepted that everyone needs Jesus to die and pay for our sin.

2) Faragher looked tired from work but was drawn to the gospel and felt energised by the good news.

3 ) A Local Aussie man bought a pack of wine from the liquor store but he was glad to have a chat and took a tract when the bus arrived.

4 ) Brad with a nose ring but was extraordinarily gentile and receptive to the Gospel. He has catholic schooling background so the gospel is still a new and refreshing message to him.

5 ) A Taiwan mature young man was a willing listener, just able to share him the nutshell of the gospel when his bus arrived.

6 ) I was able to identify with a dating couples from Xian sharing a lot of things about their home town. It opened up the chat box and God inspired to girl to have the wisdom to point out that what China needs now is faith rather than any human measures. She became so emo that she has to left for the private room to calm herself down. After that, I can share more my testimony with her that the ultimate life transforming strength is from God and she appears all agreeable. Pray for God's continuous follow up work.

7 ) Stephanie actually a Christian but did not expose herself and let me lead on sharing the gospel. I guess, she does not fully understand salvation by grace through faith as such she has no idea or certainty that she can go to heaven. After my clarification, she gladly understood now the important of accepting Jesus as our Saviour and keep trusting our Lord to lead a upward lifting Christian walk to let God made us perfect again eventually by the power of the Holy Spirit. The chat last long enough over 15-20 minutes to refresh and correct her incorrect and incomplete understanding about the Christian faith.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday June 15th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

The temperature climbed up back a bit making it warmer and best for open air outreach. Today, Gary could not come because of Kid’s illness. So Just Johnny, Amy and Hung were available for this regular Wednesday afternoon outreach. Thanks God that all of us had been kept quite busy without much lapse time in between but we still could back each other up and took some valuable pictures for our Battle log journal. Basically, it was a great day that we could have very meaningful chat with some non-believers with rare unique background such as Judaism, Buddhism and Atheism. God also led us to reconnect with people we had one or several chats before to do follow up refreshment sharing. They all worked well together to have achieved the Will and Plan of God for all those approached gospel targets helping them to move one step closer to their eternal faith and salvation. Amy was able also to get personal connection that may lead to coming to join our church service in the near future. Recap below is the Battle log of Hung: -

1 ) For Hung, the first target is Michael a Jewish non-believer scholar, yet very fond of studying the Bible in original Hebrew language. He however was brainwashed with many anti-Christ slogan by the biased attitude of the Judaism Jews against Jesus as the fake messiah. He shared a prom version about Jesus birth that Mary was actually raped by the Roman soldier to then giving birth to Jesus as virgin birth was completely beyond the comprehension of their human knowledge. I drew his attention to Gen 3:15 about the dual mags plan Kingdom and redemption projects, prophesizing that a descendent of woman will kick off the dual project defeating Satan and redeeming all repentant sinners through the incarnation as a perfect human by virgin birth. Mark was fascinated by the early stage prophesy and felt shameful to withdraw his half joking claim that Jesus was born as a baby conceived by Mary by being raped. I moved on to illustrate how the Bible should be read on light of God’s mission handbook by the two temple cleansing accounts. He was overwhelmed by all these new interpretations of Biblical accounts but had to leave with an aroused desire to listen on.

2 ) Then I approached a Vietnamese nurse student but she showed very passive attitude toward the Bible and faith issue though she was still listening not wholeheartedly.

3 ) Julian a Filipino Christian originally of Catholic background but was converted to Protestant Christianity. She was very faithful and pious in seeking biblical truth. Yet she failed the most fundamental on not having full assurance of salvation. With a concise apologetic sharing, she came to her sense that because of the efficacy of Jesus’ work dying for us then we should have 100% of assurance of salvation. She was greatly pleased by this enlightenment and was willing to take selfie with me to show her appreciation.

4 ) I was so glad to have met a Hing Konger Mr HU also a Christian now meeting at Toowong Baptist. I shared a bit about the Chinese Church history in Brisbane and pray for another divine encounter.

5 ) Three Japanese girls that Amy tried to approached but declined by them as they were into a group conversation amongst themselves. I anyhow had a go to interrupted them affirming they were really Japanese as such I greeted them in Japanese. Of course, it helped to remove the social distance between them but it was too late as the bus jsut arrived at this moment. I anyhow handed to one of them the tract.

6 ) A Chinese couples from Shanghai appeared a bits initial reluctance to chat when Amy first approached them. I anyway made a second attempted and was successful to share the gospel to the wife. She claimed she got the tract before and indicate no interest as they are Buddhism followers. I made use of this lead that all religions are good at guiding people to be a good person but failed to address sin. Message was passed on but the lady was interrupted by a friend call and it ended our conversation.

7 ) Salina an Indian young lady but showed deep interests in listening to the gospel wearing a big smile all the times. She was receptive to the gospel but the bus arrived just when I finished the sharing. Pray for God's own follow up work.

8 ) Sammy was the person that Terresa was moved to lead her into a conversation prayer. Sammy actually recognized me as I had a long chat with her two weeks ago and I have left a deep impression by her reaction to the gospel as well as by her name which is same as a Christian singer. Despite the eagerness of Teresa, she is still not ready to make a firm conversion though she is very close to making the last step of faith but actually just not yet. I assured her that it is right to be prudent in making this important decision of her life time and pray that she will make up her mind without reservation next time we meet. But today, it was a great chat that she missed two times her bus to let our conversation last for a longer time.

9 ) Mark a Malaysian Christian but he disclosed to me very late as such I only shared him the full gospel without checking out his assurance of salvation.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday May June 21st, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

It was a fine day with warm sunshine and moderate temperature good for open air outreach. It was a pity that Winnie got a bad stomach as such she had to retreat a bit earlier. But she still had reached out to a good number of people from the photo we took. As for Johnny and Hung, we again experienced mutual back up as a team that God let us catch up with someone who had just rejected our team mate a moment ago. The results of today was predominantly positive with many Christian having full assurance of salvation and some non-believers responding to the gospel very positively with appreciation shown by willingness for a group selfie with me. Recap below are the battle log of Hung and Winnie: -

1) Farthren a Christian with a rare view of staying at a transitional place to receive training by God to after death so as to become a better person by the power of God. It is more or less the biblical view that all Believers will go to Paradise after death waiting for the 2nd coming of Christ and all of them will return on to the earth to live with Christi as King for 1000 years. So, he got the three-fold deliverances understanding as such he most likely will know that despite we are not yet perfect both before and after conversion, we have been given back our eternal lift identity the moment we received Christ as Saviour.

2) Ethen an Aussie girl who has become Christian for only two years, but again she has the most orthodox understanding of 100% assurance of Salvation if we have received Christ as our savour. I just made a minor fine tuning on her statement of faith that for sure Jesus has died for all of us and taken our place for the punishment as such we definitely should have 100% assurance of salvation. Again, she was so appreciative for my sharing and affirmation of her faith as such she also was happy to take a selfie with me.

3) A fat big guy who appeared reluctant to be an audience of the Gospel but ending up still hearing most part of the gospel before the bus came.

4) Sam, a Korean girl who appeared to be a non-believer but still showed great receptiveness to the gospel.

5) Caleb very clear about the gospel and has 100% assurance of salvation. He is from a Christian family, but more so, it is so precious for him to know the gospel so accurately. I congratulate him and he was happy to take a flash photo shot of our selfie.

6) A fresh graduate from China Guangzhou中國廣州,新生. He remains open to the gospel though the bus came very quickly.

7) Sandy a Malaysian girl of Indian origin. She initially rejected Johnny but till both Johnny and the Spirit moved me to approach her and bingo, I ended up sharing the full gospel to her.

8 ) A mature worker saying “All good” to reject my approach. Pray really that God will still give him 2nd chance to know that we are not "All Good" for Heaven without Jesus.

9) Vanessa a willing listener wearing a smile all the time. She heard the full gospel and promise to make up her mind to receive Christ at her private time.

10 ) Ivy another heart soften harvest field ready for the gospel to bear root for fruit. Despite she was once busy in replying text message, she paid full attention to the gospel sharing and admitted it is the message she need to understand her eternal status. She also showed her appreciation by taking selfie with me.

Battle log of Winnie:

7. Hogan & Hanna。

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday May June 14th, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

The cold weather has eased up a bit but still not ideal for open air outreach. Johnny, Winnie and Hung teamed up for another day of cross-cultural street evangelism. Today, God led us to reconnect with many people who had heard the gospel and took the tract before. Thanks God most of them did seriously read the tract and got the message correctly. Another characteristic of today out reach is giving us many apologetic opportunities to share the Gospel to Mormon and Muslim people. Recap is the Battle Log of Hung and Winnie: -

1) Kevin from China中國, claimed he was approached before and got the tract. I asked if he had read it and got the message, he said yes. And after my diagnosis verification, he did understand and got the message correctly. I just blessed him and prayed for him to make his decision in God’s predestined time.

2) Another Local Aussie managed to avoid faith issue, although I tried to carry on with the gospel sharing but it was just cut short letting me only sharing the basic of the core gospel message.

3) Scot initially declined to have any more chat as he was not in the mood to talk. I asked anyway did he read the tract and draw conclusion from the tract. He said yes and upon checking, I was able to confirm he knew the conclusion just not yet in God’s timing to make the action faith decision.

4) Locus also told me he got the tract and understand the issue. Upon verification, he did show good understanding of the gospel but still appeared receptive to my revision talk to reinforce his understanding giving him a boost to make the last step of fait to receive Christ.

5) Then I approached a fat guy who showed impatience to hear the gospel though I still managed to share the basic or the chore of the gospel message.

6) Tailor is a half Japanese Aussie. He initially declined the approach by Johnny. The Spirit gave me inspiration to ask if he is a cross breed person with Chinese blood. But he said he is half Japanese. Then it opened up the chat box letting me identify with him about Japanese culture. And eventually, I could share him the full gospel.

7) Emily is a local Aussie girl and was very submissive and attentive to listen to the Gospel. Her interest in bible message invited me to share further with her about the creation account.

8 ) Then I approached a local Aussie with a Japanese tattoo as he is a fan of the Japanese culture. It was a pity that our gospel sharing was interrupted by an incoming call.

9) Then I caught up with another Christian who anyhow has no assurance of salvation. I clarified it with him.

10) Then I approached a Korean girl who surprisingly is not a Christian and don’t believe in heaven or hell or God. So, I can only drop the conversation without pressuring her to hear it.

11) The I talked to John who opined that good person can go to heaven. I shared him the gospel and explained why good person still cannot go to heaven.

12) Finally, an Atheist chemist worker was friendly to have causal chat including answering my question about the name and logo of her job which she happily answered my query. Yet when I tried to carry on with the Gospel, she bluntly declined.

Battle log of Winnie:

14/6/22。Toowong

I’ve just finished 3 days of street outreach.  Roger, Daniel, Andy and I were in the city on Friday afternoon.  I was in Riccarton, Saturday lunch time, and then Binu and I were in the City on a cold, wet, and windy Sunday afternoon… It was so worth facing the conditions for, God is so good!

The Friday outreach seems so long ago as I write this on Sunday.  It was a busy outreach, with little down time; plenty of gospel opportunities!  I set up my flipchart, before heading over to approach someone who seemed to have the time for a chat.  Indeed they did!  I asked them what they thought would happen after they die.  She looked at me and said, “I’m probably going to hell, because I’m gay”.  Starting from there I was able to share the bad news and the good news with her, and her friend who joined her.  I was able to communicate 2 things clearly: 1) there is indeed hope for them to go to heaven and 2) that homosexuality is a sin.  They heard the gospel, but sadly there wasn’t real engagement from them at this stage.  Yet, they were happy to leave with tracts.  It was a friendly chat, and I enjoyed it.

I went back to my flipchart and tried to get conversations started with it.  There were 3 girls walking past at a distance, and I was very surprised to see one of the girls go out of her way to disengage from her friends to make a bee line for the flipchart, she wanted to know what the good person test was all about!  Her friends followed and I was able to have a marvellous gospel conversation with them.  They all seemed to be in different places.  The initial girl was chatty, the middle one was silent, but the subtle expressions of comprehension on the third girl's face filled me with joy.  It was such a great chat, and they all left with tracts.  In thinking on that chat, I would guess the 3rd girl would most likely become a Christian.  But, I have no idea, the gospel is the power of God for salvation, and only God saves.  Maybe the silent girl will become a Christian?  Maybe they all will?  Maybe none of them?  I’ll never know - but that’s okay.  Our job is to sow the gospel seed and pray.  God brings the increase.  Either way, God will be glorified!

As soon as the chat with the girls ended, a guy came over who wanted to know what the flipchat was about.  I’ve talked to him before, in fact, he has listened to our open air preaching before.  He “was” a Christian in the past, but is not currently.  He only had 5 minutes, but he ended up staying a lot longer than that.  We never actually went through the flipchart, he just hit me both barrels with the hard questions, esp. Why does God allow suffering and evil?  I patiently answered his questions as best as I could.  The answers are simple, they can just be hard to process sometimes.  He eventually had to go, and we parted on good terms.  He seemed to appreciate the chat and left with a tract as well.

It was so awesome to see the rest of the team busy in gospel conversations as well.  I mixed up the rest of my time with walk up conversations and tract distribution.  I had at least 2 other solid conversations.  Glory to God alone!

Saturday was a bit slow initially, nice sunny day, and plenty of people going past, but no one was taking the bait.  In those situations, just be patient and polite.

A guy came and sat in the seats behind my flipchart, waiting for some friends.  I asked if he wanted to try it out - nope.  Did he want a takeaway version?  - nope.  All good.  I kept trying to start conversations with those going past, and trying to hand out tracts.  It was funny, because the guy eventually either became curious or had pity on me! HAHA :)  He asked my name, and then wanted to know what it was all about.  He accepted a tract and we started chatting.  But, when it rains, it pours!  Just at that moment, a lady who had walked past me earlier came back, walked right up to my flipchart and said, “I want to know all about it”!  The guy's friends came, and he left with the tract, so I was able to focus on sharing the gospel with the lady.  We ended up sitting on the seats and never used the flipchart.  She was very open, and we had a full gospel conversation, where she often interrupted with really good questions.  By the end of the chat, she effectively said “I’m in”, yet I got her to consider the cost of accepting the gift.  She was very keen to take a tract, and she said she would check out the needGod.net socials.

So after this chat I got into another solid chat with an American astrophysicist.  He was on the fence in regards to God (actually, there is no fence, but you know what I mean).  He had a Catholic background and a significant memory from that background was that he wasn’t allowed to ask questions, which he said made him angry.  Well, we certainly had a good time discussing questions and answers, and he also heard the gospel that good deeds are NOT required to get to heaven, because of Jesus!

So, coming to today’s outreach.  Looking at the weather, I nearly decided to cancel and just do online work instead.  But I decided to go, and turned the car around.  I rugged up warm against the elements, and just prayed that God would be glorified in my feeble effort.  I was so encouraged to see Binu turn up as well!  But just as he did, it started to rain quite hard.  We prayed together, and then found the driest spots we could.  I was amazed that I had such a busy outreach, I wasn’t counting, and it was a bit of a blurr, but I’d say I had at least 7 solid gospel interactions, not including all the tracts that were distributed!  God is so good!  One of those conversations in particular was really special.  It’s hard to describe.  It was just special.  A God moment.  At the very least, he seemed to gain much gospel clarity (thank you check questions).

I left that outreach tired, and cold, but inside I was warm and happy!  I just don’t understand why more Christians don’t join me.  You are missing out! :)

To God alone be all the glory!

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday June 8th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

It was a hectic day for me but still God had sufficient grace for me to keep my commitment to be His witness at Sunnybank, week in week out. Today, Johnny was not available but God immediately moved and called a Kairos graduate Teresa Yi to join the Sunnybank team for the first time with Gary, Amy and Hung as team partners. Gary chose to went over to the Eastern side of Main Road while Teresa, Amy and Hung stayed on the Western side. Hung took a while to explain the way to present to Good Person tract as well as the underlining policy of Street outreach that Sin must be mentioned and stress but not forcing the audience to make hasty on the spot decision. Both sisters in Christ were very much spirit led that they all had very fruitful chats to first timer listeners or to those ripe for harvest making on the spot decision to accept Jesus out of their free will. Praise and Glory all to be to God. Recap below was my fewer divine encounters as a result of spending considerable time to coach Teresa in the beginning and also later on the issue of Assurance of Salvation.

1) A Proud Chinese man used demanding tone to urge for a quick finish of the Gospel sharing. Perhaps he was right as the Bus came before I can just sparely finish sharing the full gospel.

2) Then Teresa Yi told me she met a Christian and appeared to let this person go without any further sharing of the Gospel. I told her that, for all Christians, it should be good and necessary to conduct a diagnosis on their assurance of Salvation. I took Teresa herself as an target of drilling asking the two questions to her. She was basically on the right tract but still missing the crucial points that a fair dinkum Christian should have 100% assurance of salvation simply because of what Jesus had died and done for us. It is nothing to do with our good deeds, not before our conversion as well as after. If any one showed uncertainty to heaven because they feel they are not yet perfect, then they may have a mixed up on the three-fold salvation of God redemption package. The past deliverance was effective as soon as one repent and show willingness to ask Jesus to be the personal saviour, then all our sins, before and or after conversation should have been completely pardoned. Jesus sacrificial death to take over the eternal dead punishment of our sin alone is 100% effective and sufficient to set our sin count to zero as such we will be given the heavenly citizenship instantly. God will not revoke this free gift of eternal life even if our progress of sanctification is not smooth making many mistakes all along the way. He has promised to make us a new creation of masterpiece or perfect workmanship purely on basis of the work that Jesus had done. God has also further promised to make the work in progress life perfect on day before the new heaven and new earth descends on to the earth after the Millennium reigned by Jesus for 1000 years after the 7 years of tribulation.

3) Lia and Boo a Vietnamese couples listened attentively and appeared very receptive to the Gospel. Not sure if they are Buddhism by faith, but the Holy Spirit seemed to have put all check in their mind, especially the lady that they were agreeable with all the gospel said and saw the need to trust in Jesus for salvation and a sure gift of eternal life.

4) Otto, firstly approached by Teresa but handing him over to me as he is a Hong Konger who claim to be an Atheist believing in no God and no Heaven and Hell. I identified with him first that in rational mind, those things are beyond our human ability to prove for their existence. But if we find out it is true after we die, then there will be no 2nd chance for us to do anything to reverse the situations. So I guide him to put those question mark as aside as an assumption and think along the gospel and the mechanism of God's devised salvation plan. If it is sensible and logical then he should put a lot of deep though in to it. He agreed before the bus came to take him away.

5) Helen, she claimed I had chatted with her before but when I asked her to summarise the message of the track she failed to do so. I thus earn another round of sharing and revision on the reason we need Jesus and how His redemption act worked. She anyway believes in a state after death in eternity, so my revision clicked with her world view and was stressed that all decision to rely on Jesus must be made in this life. She seemed seeing this time critical elements in God's devised salvation plan for us.

6) Sadia a lady from Saudi Arabia. She looks very much westernized as such she appeared very open to gospel message giving very positive response during the conversation.

Christchurch (NZ) Team

We have moved into winter in Christchurch.  The Summer of special outreaches has finished, and we are planning for the next summer at the moment!  But in the meantime, we continue to plod in our daily job of gospel ploughing and sowing.  What a privilege it is to serve the Lord in this way.  And I’m so thankful for all you who are working alongside us in prayer!

I’m going to give an update on the last week on the street, which included five outreaches across three locations: Central, Riccarton and Upper Riccarton.

But first, I found something I wrote recently that I want to share.  It was obviously after a good chat I had, probably online:

Sometimes we get so used to what we do, that we forget the significance of what we are doing.  The gospel really is the power of God for salvation.  It's so amazing we get this privilege to tell people about him.  I'm so overjoyed after that chat.  Those kids were soaking in the gospel and asking so many wonderful questions.  But I can't save them.  God, please change their hearts for your glory alone!!!!!!

On Friday, Roger, Andy and myself were in central Christchurch.  First street outreach of the winter, and It was cold!  I was glad to be wearing thermals and all my other layers! :)

Andy told me later that he had a follow up with a guy he had previously witnessed to at the bus stops.  They went into a coffee shop where it was warm for a follow up gospel conversation. :)

Roger faithfully manned his flipchart near the bridge of remembrance.  He said he had at least 3 solid conversations.

I decided to roam.  And I spent most of the two hours of the outreach in three solid conversations.  They were awesome!

The first was on Cashel Mall, with two brothers with Catholic backgrounds.  They came to understand the gospel, and one of them even asked which church I was at - he said I might see him there on Sunday.  Sadly, he didn’t turn up.  Yet God was glorified in my obedience to share.  And the gospel is still the power of God for salvation!

I moved on to Cathedral Square where I asked two passers by what they thought happened after life.  Well, that conversation went long.  One of them was a Biochemist and leaning heavily towards Atheism.  It was one of the few times that I relied heavily on my knowledge of creation apologetics.  It was a very stimulating conversation, where the law and the gospel was shared.  By the end of the chat, there was no noticeable shift in the position of the Biochemist (you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink), but the other guy seemed impacted, and he carefully accepted a tract and slipped it into his bag.

Moving on through Cathedral Square, I handed out tracts, and was surprised at how many were accepted.

I ended up back at the bridge of remembrance where I got into my third and final chat.  It was with a couple I wasn’t expecting to stop.  The girl played devil's advocate - no problem with me, because, when you are relying on the truth, the answers always stack up.  They both left accepting tracts.

On Saturday, I was in Riccarton at lunch time and then in Upper Riccarton in the evening to test a new outreach location with Mike and John.

It was a bit slow in Riccarton and then I suddenly hit a stretch of three conversations, each rolling into the other!

The second one was a follow up chat with a guy I hadn’t seen for a long time!  It was so good to see him.  He is still articulating the gospel, but, sadly, I’m not seeing any fruit of salvation in his life.  I gave him my contact # and hope to see him again soon to be able to continue labouring with him in the gospel.

The third one was also a follow up - with a young man who is now professing faith, and he even said he has almost finished reading John in the Bible.  Sadly his work schedule stops him from being able to come to either the foundations Bible study my church runs, nor our regular Sunday gatherings.  I continue to pray for him.

One of the final encounters of the outreach was with a lady who seems to have become mixed up with some conspiracies.  She was using biblical lingo, but completely missing the gospel.  She just wanted to rage against the culture and was even thinking about what happens after life.

In Upper Riccarton, on Saturday evening, I had an opportunity to engage three young guys with the gospel.  Sadly, one of the guys claimed to be a Christian, and yet, he didn’t understand the gospel at all.  The conversation didn’t flow too well, because they guys kept getting distracted.  But, I made the most of the opportunity, and they all left with tracts.

Sunday I was back at Cashel / Colombo corner with Susan and Binu.  It’s cold enough now that Susan gets me to set up the flipchart on the eastern side of Colombo Street - in the sun! :)

I was so encouraged to see Susan running the flipchart with a group of young guys at one point.  Yet, I was so busy in my own gospel conversations.

Firstly, and had a great chat with two young Indian ladies, who followed along the gospel presentation flawlessly, and came to grasp the great significance of Jesus: our only hope for salvation from our sin and hell.

I then moved into a long chat with a young man who wasn’t interested in a tract, but decided to answer my question: ‘what do you think happens after you die?’  He didn’t seem very engaged, and yet, he stayed.  He was fairly hard soil, and so I laboured, for the glory of God alone.

Tuesday (yesterday), I was in Riccarton.  Two chats stand out in my mind.  The first was with a young man who loved history.  He knew about Viking gods, and Egyptian gods.  But he didn’t understand the gospel.  It was my privilege to share it with him.  Later, another guy stopped, he heard the gospel and seemed really impressed.  He asked about my church and accepted a contact card.  He said he needed time to process what he had heard - which is fair.  But he also understood that the message was simple enough.  I pleaded with him to trust in Christ, after counting the cost of doing so.

This only covers the work on the streets.  I’ve also been busy sharing the gospel online, and planning the next summer of outreach.  Again, I feel so privileged to be able to serve the Lord in this capacity.  Long may it last.  Thank you so much to all those that donate to enable us to continue in this ministry the Lord has put in front of us.  We ultimately trust him along for all our provision.  All glory to Him!
