Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday September 19th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

Today, it was the first time I did solo at any outreach ministry occasion. Johnny was sick with a sore throat and has been absent for both Toowong and Sunnybank. Gary was also not available being occupied by taking care of sicked children at home. Amy could not get child care for Joshua. So, I was the only left to do the Sunnybank Street outreach for the first time. I initially would not want to do it solo but recalling that Johnny had some solo experience while I was in the hospital. But the spiritual warfare impression was overwhelming despite I still cover the solo operations by prayer. Consecutively three initially approaches faced serious and heavy counter attack by a Muslim man, then a Malaysian Chinese who can speak Cantonese , then eventually a pro Communist atheist elderly that all three of them simply rendered you a deaf ears but one way attack God and Christianity with ridiculous secular thought.

By the grace of God, I got a few conversation after the first wave of attack and the encounter of Van Tha from Myanmar made my day. He is from a Christian family in Yangon. But he professes pure and correct understanding of the gospel with 100% assurance of salvation. His only problem is that he though he is readily turned perfect after receiving Christ which I clarified with him the complete god Kingdom and redemption project. He just came to Australia for Uni study at UQ and quickly made connection with other Myanmar Christians that they seemed to have started their own Myanmar indigenous Christian service in the Logan city. I was over joy to share with him the CFC vision to partner with the Myanmar Christian to plant and grow their indigenous Christian church. He gave me his email for future contact. So I was happy I did not miss this chance to get connected with a young Myanmar Christian for some possible future ministry partnership. I possibly can introduce him to M2M to see if he can liaise with his own Myanmar people to play a role in the 2nd shipment of supplies helping the Karen refugee. Van Tha himself is from the Chin tribes. Though Karan is not a tribe of Myanmar. They still belong to the same country. So, let see how God will make use of all these interpersonal connections to do His Kingdom Job.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday Oct 18th, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

Johnny was sicked to day with a sore throat, so only Winnie and Hung teamed up to do our weekly outreach at Toowong. The pattern of divine encounter was more or less the same. We had to face a period of about 10 minutes with long queue at the bus stop waiting for buses to pick up and digested the long queue. We had to pick a few people at the end of the queue before the next bus arrive. After that, we on the other hand could have many pick at the bus stop amongst those waiting crowd. In general, the response rate was quite good today, with almost no blunt rejection. Most people were willing listener. At time we might have faced people with initial rejection but the Spirit generally worked overtly to soften their heart to let the conversation carry on. Another apparent change of trend is the mainlander Chinese all have become more approachable. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung.

1) Local Aussie girl listened reluctantly but I still managed to finish sharing the full gospel but at the end, she showed no interest at all but still took a tract.,

2) Another lady named Wu from Beijing appeared very interested to hear the gospel with good positive response. 胡北京樂意聴

3) Then I caught with a many called Sin Yui Pu fr浦星鋭om Han Chung , Xanxi陝西漢中,很樂意,陝西漢中. He was also a revery open minder and willing listener appearing very receptive to the Gospel

4) Then God led me to approach an 80 years old long time migrant from Chung San China. He came at very young age and once moved to live in Fiji but returned to Australia. He was very talkative and appear neutral to the gospel. 馬,中山,早代澳洲移民曾去Fiji

5) Then the Spirit led me to approach a Bangladesh Muslim who initially rejected my approach but I turned the topic to appear about cultural concept then I could managed to carry on with the gospel sharing. But once I het the topic of Jesus, he suddenly turned cold hearted and become very argumentative which eventually brought the conversation to a halt.

6) Then I met a Christian girl from Shen Zhen. But I had no time to diagnosis about here assurance of salvation. She anyway bless me and bid good bye with Christian greeting of Emmanuel. 女,基督徒,深圳,以馬內利

7) The I met Tao from Changsha Hunan and I can identify with him as once a frequet visitor to Changsha serving ICC. Again he was very open to the Gospel.

8 )Last I met Yvonne and Hong Konger who immediately identified herself as Christian attending CCCCB St Lucia. I took the chance to invite her to join Kairos on Saturday as she came to be the accompany family member for her child to study here. She promise to contact Kiateck to locate and get in touch with me through email and will consider doing Kairos. 把握時機

A&P show outreaches are back! :)  Over the last few years, many have been cancelled due to Covid restrictions, but that is now a thing of the past.  What is an A&P show?  A&P stands for agricultural and pastoral.  It’s an event where people from the local farming community come together.  There are horse riding competitions, wood chopping competitions, people hire sites to sell tractors, and all kinds of farming related stuff.  There are food stalls, machinery exhibits, side shows, bands playing.  It’s a fun day out for the family.  We hire trade or craft sites at these shows where we set up flip charts and spend the day sharing the gospel with those going past.

On Saturday we were at the first spring show of the season: Ellesmere, about 30 minutes south of Christchurch near a little place called Leeston.

Andy and I were there by 7:30 am to set up our site.  It’s the smallest site we have ever had!  Normally we have enough room to set up 3 flip charts, but there was only enough room for 2.  We set up a gazebo, laid out a table of tracts and bibles, set up the flip charts, and slapped on some sunscreen.  A nice sunny day, but there was a cold wind, so I still wore my puffer jacket for most of it! :)  The site was ready by about 10 past 8.  Ollie had arrived, and so the 3 of us started the outreach with some prayer.  But, even as we were praying, our first 2 customers approached a flip chart!  I peeled off to engage them, and the long, busy day of gospel outreach was underway.

And it was a very busy day, glory to God.  There was a team of 9 (if I counted right), in the last picture, only Lani is missing as she had already left by that stage.  We were ministering for a total of 7 hours - right through to 4pm.

It was interesting watching the crowds walking past our site and reading the front page of our flip charts.  Often I would lip read them asking: “the good person test?”  As the site got busy, some of us would come out into the flow and try to encourage people to give the flip chart a go.  It was interesting having people say, “I’ve done it before at a previous show”, and so there would be an opportunity to follow up.

One of my early chats was a tough one.  A couple went past - she wasn’t interested, he was, but he wasn’t interested in the gospel, only arguing.  She said she would leave him with me and went off to enjoy the show.  He (an atheist) wasn’t there to listen or discuss, but only make assertions and assumptions about me.  I knew there was no real point in trying to engage, because he simply wasn’t interested.  And so I just listened, and defended when I could (he would cut me off).  After 5 or 10 minutes of this, his partner came back.  She joined the conversation for a minute, before it became obvious to her and me that it was pointless to continue.  They moved on to enjoy the show.  We parted with a handshake and he refused a tract.  Interestingly, his brother is a Pastor.  I’d love to have an opportunity to talk to Sam again, God willing.

The rest of the outreach was a bit of a blurr.  I talked to many people about the law and the gospel.  And it was so awesome to see everyone else running the site busy having chats as well.  Some were hard, some were easy, some were open, many were closed.  Yet, as long as we were faithful to the message of the gospel, God was glorified in every chat.

Jordan arrived at lunch time, and in the four hours he was there, he had only 2 chats!  The first one went for over 2 hours!!  But, that time was well spent in labouring the law and the gospel, and answering the hard questions of life.  Rebekah had a chat with a lady who heard the law and the gospel, and yet was struggling with some related issues and the time and the place wasn’t appropriate to get into it, and so contact details were exchanged, so a follow up coffee can be arranged - so encouraging!

For all the rest of the chats, I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking :)

But one other encouraging thing I’ll mention.  I normally do outreach in Riccarton on Saturday’s, and over recent times I’ve had 2 great opportunities to minister to a young man and his friends.  Well, he saw me at the show, and came over to say g'day.  He looked so wrapped to see me, and he told me he had been reading his bible.  May he continue to grow for God’s glory.

I was taking some R&R earlier in the week, so I wasn’t in Riccarton on Tuesday.  And on the Sunday (the day after the A&P show) I was just too tired to go to the streets.  But there was a team of 4 in the City on Friday.  It was great to have Connor (pictured) out with us.  Connor is back from living in Auckland!  I paired up with him and we had some great opportunities to minister the gospel together (firstly with a group of 4 girls, and then later with a group of 4 guys, plus a great short and sweet chat with a tradie in between).

Well, that wraps the week!  Praise God that we have another A&P show outreach opportunity next Saturday (22nd), in Rangiora.  Please pray that that goes well.  SDG!

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday September 12th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

Today the Sunnybank Outreach team reduced to just Johnny and Hung. Amy was not available as she needed to look after her son as child care service could not be booked. Again, the outreach targets to day here at Sunnybank were in great majority Chinese especially from Mainland China. But the average response was considered good showing the work of God ahead in their hearts. Johnny again could catch up with some previously met individuals. His last chat with Mr Leung from Guangzhou last almost half an hour leading him a step very close to salvation. As for Hung, God also gave many good chats with the mainland Chinese as per Battle Log recap below: -

1) Easton and a non-Christian friend are both from HKG. Easton himself is a Christian, but apparently his understanding of salvation is incomplete, yet the bus arrival cut short our conversation.

2) Tina a girl form mainland but claimed herself a Christian by birth from a Christian family. Yet she has no idea why she is saved and thought herself may have only 50/50 chance to be saved. It was again a pity the bus arrival deprived me of further chance to clarify her misconception about Salvation.

3) Then I was able to catch up with two middle age ladies from Hubei near Wuhan 湖北,武漢. My past extensive travelling experience in China gained their identification as a post China man. But when changing topic to share about Gospel. their hearts are also very softened to take in the message. The talkative lady left first with 朱園園Yuan Yuna Chu staying behind to listen to the full gospel and she responded very positively to the message and show willingness to pursuit the Christian faith. .

4) Ki a Korean seems not yet a Christian but understood the message with good receptiveness.

5) Then I caught up with another lady from North-eastern China. She was opened for chatting, but heart was not ready taking the gospel message lightly denying it is relevant to her.

6) Then I caught up with another Hongkonger who try to show she is a religious person but not a Christian and down play the need of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. She left rejecting a tract so as an afterthought, I might have met a cult follower.

7) Then I caught up with Chang Xiao Lan of the BCCMA Choir. Her faith status is suspicious and according to Johnny she has now switched to the Rock Church. I could not have time to diagnosis properly her faith understanding as she took initiative to know our church status.

8 ) Then another Hong Konger who appeared very courtesy and polite but she seriously take sin lightly and reject to take a tract.

9) Then I met the 2nd Korean today and he is also not a Christian. Basically, quite receptive to the gospel message.

10) Then I approached a couple with the man named Guo 郭from Henan Zhan Zhou河南鄭卅. He is very opened for conversation and respond to the gospel positively and took a tract at the end.

11) My last target is a Sri Lanka man. The conversation was all good though he is not yet a Christian. But he took in all the gospel message and admit he needs Jesus.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday Oct 11th, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

It was yet another day of outreach ministry as usual. The three of us Johnny, Winnie and Hung teamed up to get hold of the divine encounter/appointment that God had arranged for us. For Johnny he met 5 previous gospel targets whom he met previously and all of them in turn approached Johnny for a chat. So, the work of God in all their hearts are all apparent. For Hung, I also had chance to caught up with someone before including from Myanmar, Winnie is very gifted in getting chats and selfie pictures afterwards. Recap below is the battle log of Hung.

1) James is a local Aussie who was very opened to the gospel with a receptive attitude. He appreciated my sharing with him.

2) I was over joy to meet Hi Har from Yangon, Myanmar again. I greeted him with the Burmese custom "Mingallaba" when handing out something to a person. He was happy to catch up with me as a friend of Myanmar. He actually came in 2016 as such his time in Australia is quite long making him a more open-minded person. He did have heard the gospel before, but my sharing renewed and deepened his understanding about God the Father and Jesus our Saviour. He appeared receptive to the message and showed willingness to pursue the gift of eternal life created by Gd for each and every one of us the sinner cross-culturally. He was happy to take a photo with me to remember this divine encounter.

3) Then I approached a mature adult from Kent, of England. I could easily identify with him as an UMIST students in Manchester. He seemingly is a Atheist but still was polite to listen my full gospel sharing.

4) Then I was led to approach two Aussie girls with dyed hair. They appeared very friendly and were interactive to the gospel sharing.

5) Then I caught up with another local Aussie girl Anson. She quickly declared herself a Christian and passed my diagnosis 2 questions test of her assurance of Salvation which perfectly showing she has 100% assurance of salvation.

6) Jessie is an Indonesian of Chinese descendent. She has a Chinese surname of Lin and was very drawn to the gospel message.

7) Myskina is a UQ student girl from Singapore with broad smiley on her face. She also reacted to the gospel very positively.

Busy week this week, and a bit of a routine change - that I hate - but it was worth it, because on Saturday I had the privilege of running some evangelism training.  The start of the week was cold!  We even got a dusting of snow!  But the end of the week was hot!

The routine change was on Saturday.  On Tuesday I was in Riccarton with Roger, as per usual.  Friday was in the city with Roger and Andy.  Saturday was the training in the morning, and then a street outreach in the city in the afternoon.  And finally, it was back to normal on Sunday with an afternoon street outreach in the city - Susan joined me.

I’m going to start with talking about Saturday.  So, there were about 15 people at the training.  3 churches were represented, but most of the attendees are also part of the same church as me :)  The training involved 3 sessions, the first 2 were theory, and the optional 3rd session was a street outreach in the afternoon to put it into practice.  In the first session I covered the biblical basis for the method of evangelism I was teaching, based mainly from Romans 1 - 3, but also other parts of Romans, Galatians, Acts and Proverbs.  Then we discussed 2 difficult issues that often come up in relation to evangelism: sexuality, and evil and suffering.  Before we got into the nitty gritty of how to practically share the gospel using the method, I covered some general tips and techniques.

I was a bit nervous going into the training, as I really wanted it to go well.  I want the church to be encouraged, equipped and blessed in and through evangelism - all to the glory of God alone.  I was concerned that I would have too much time and not enough to say.  I was very wrong there!  I had the opposite problem!  Oh well, I think it went okay.

So, there was a team of 9 to hit the streets in the afternoon, in Cashel Mall.  There were HEAPS of people there, out enjoying the nice weather.  There were 4 religious groups out (the JWs were taking 2 spots!) and lots of buskers.  We joined the fray!  I was so encouraged to see everyone in the team getting good opportunities to put into practice what they had been learning about in the morning.  That was a real answer to prayer! :)

I didn’t really have any chats of my own, I spent my time making sure people were focused on their task, balancing pairings, and pulling distractions away (e.g., regulars who didn’t really want to discuss the gospel).  But it was a thrill to know I was enabling 8 others to get some practical experience!  I was excited to hear the good reports in the debrief afterwards.

I’m planning to run the training again in the Autumn (18th of Feb), all the details are here: https://tellmeconference.org.nz/training/

Going to Sunday’s outreach.  It was hot!  In fact, I’m not used to the heat, and I felt quite tired.  I set up quite close to the JWs.  They had their tract boards set up.  So I set up my flipchart.

I had a stellar flipchart chat with a trio.  One of the guys was very resistant to the building builder analogy, so I laboured with him for a bit, but I didn’t want them all to miss hearing the gospel, and I sensed that they might walk off at any moment.  So I gently cut to the law, and was happy that they stayed to hear the gospel, and go into the checks.  I didn’t end up needing to go back to how we know God is real, the whole presentation made sense of it all.  One of the other guys thanked me for explaining it the way I did - he said it really made sense.  And the girl seemed impacted too.

Later, I had a guy go past who said he had already received a tract.  I asked if he read it, and he said, “no, not yet”.  I could tell he really wanted to talk, and talk we did: about evil and suffering.  He couldn’t reconcile this with an all powerful, all knowing, and all loving God.  He hoped there was nothing after he died.  And so the whole conversation focused on discussing this question.  At one point, he started to get a bit angry, but he contained himself, as I wrestled with him to hold the balance rightly.  He also couldn’t reconcile hell, and we discussed this as well.  I gave him the answers he needed, but as I had warned him, the answers can take some processing.  During the chat, I was able to take him through the law and share the gospel multiple times.

The chat ended prematurely, as a protest came down the mall.  Before he left, I checked in to see if he remembered the gospel - he got it wrong!  So, once again I reiterated the gospel and told him to get in touch if he had further questions.  He left with a tract - maybe he’ll read it this time?

Friday was also a busy time of ministry.  I talked to a few anti-vaxxers (one was a follow up) and was able to share the gospel with them.  You know, I just can’t think of any more details from that outreach now.  Saturday and Sunday were so busy, and I’m too tired to draw up those memories now!

But, something cool happened as a result of that outreach.  Today, I was early to our church gathering to do setup duty.  A young couple turned up early and so I welcomed them.  They are from Chile, South America.  And it turns out that Andy had shared the gospel with them during Friday’s outreach and invited them along.  It was so awesome to have them gather with us today, and to continue ministering to them.

Lastly, Tuesday’s outreach, the only thing I can remember was catching up with a doctor who had supported us in our ministry in bringing the gospel to the issue of abortion outside the hospital.  It was so cool to see him again.

Okay, that’s it for this week.  Quite a few pictures today, there are 1 for Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, all the rest were from the training outreach on Saturday.

I praise God for answering our prayers.  All glory to God alone.  I love him so much!

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday September 5th, 2022 from 1300 – 1500

It was a day of great reunion with two of our long-missed team members, Gary and Amy. By the grace of the Lord, both are well and good for re-joining the street outreach. Another God's led new member Yi Ming Zhou also joined us through the introduction of Johnny. Yi Ming is a member of Sherwood Methodist and bible study group member of Johnny. They had a long discussion on theology and Yi Ming was finally moved to give it a go to join the street ministry. Johnny first introduced him to us and gave him so on the spot training than Yi Ming did his first outreach in His strength. Pray that he will keep coming because of his personal experience of the presence of God and have a full understanding of the meaning and scope of Great Commission.

Amy seemingly was having a good time with many opportunities of conversation. She even unknowingly had covered some gospel target that once rejected either me or Johnny. Gary as usual being very diligent and faithful to reach out to people passing by him.

As for me, I only had fewer conversation but a couple of them were very deep and long chat with prominent presence of the Holy Spirit to lead the gospel target to ponder deeper in the realms of God's glory through His Creation work that actually are scientifically sound. Recap anyway is the Battle Log of Hung.

1) I first approached a Chinese couple who claimed to be atheist 中國無神論 as such not interested to listen to the Gospel. I did not give up too easily and tried from a life issue angle to elaborate the question if being a good person alone will qualify us to Heaven. After a while, the man who talked still cold heartedly declined further chat.

2) The next one is a girl from Shanghai 上海who is a UQ student. She was initially a bit reluctant to listen but eventually, the Spirit softened her heart to listen the full gospel sharing and took a tract.

3) Then God made me a divine appointment with a local Aussie called Mitchell. He appeared as an Agnostic who viewed that God can be anything in the nature and human is just part of the nature and by conducting a good life , we can be part of that Godly existence in the world. Strictly speaking, Agnosticism is the view or belief that the existence of God, of the divine or the supernatural is unknown or unknowable and that "human reason is incapable of providing sufficient rational grounds to justify either the belief that God exists or the belief that God does not exist. The English biologist Thomas Henry Huxley coined the word agnostic in 1869, and said "It simply means that a man shall not say he knows or believes that which he has no scientific grounds for professing to know or believe. God moved me to first share him the Gospel then use the 6 days creation to show to him there are solid scientific ground to support the 6 days creation theory. He was a very good listener and might have unintentionally miss the bus to listen on which led him see the reality of the presence of God' He left with a mindset changed that Christianity has no conflict with science and he will ponder deeper to pursuit God.

4) Then I had another good chat with a UQ student with surname as Li李 who is from China, He was very receptive to the gospel despite a typical atheist nonbeliever brought up in the Communist China. But he admitted no one is perfect and there is a consequence we have to bear facing judgement after death. So, the Spirit really has moved him a big step closer to salvation.

5) Then I caught up with a middle-aged man from Hubei Wuhan武漢,he appeared very polite and humble to listen to the gospel after I show empathy to people of Wuhan having suffered a lot from the Covid19 originated from his home town. Though the chat did not last long enough, but he willing took the tract to read on the message I shared with him.

6) Then I talked to two Mansfield High school girls by identifying with them as a father of one of their Chinese teachers. Natalie responded positively to my approach and quickly claimed that both of them are Christian. The other girl was a bit shy so only Natalie was doing the talking. Her answer to the diagnostic question 1 is perfect. she has 100 % assurance of salvation, but the 2nd question, she was utterly wrong claiming it was because she believed she has comprised with all the Christian teaching and practicing a good Christian life. It took me a while to clarify her wrong understanding. She any attends the Logan City Church.

7) Finally, I approached a Filipino Lady who is also a Christian but seemingly with very shallow understanding of the Bible. I went through the gospel message with her just in time before her bus arrived.

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Toowong on Tuesday Oct 4th, 2022 from 1330 – 1500

It was a hard day that both Winnie and Hung hardly had got a full gospel sharing with our targets. It was either disrupted by the quick arriving bus or interfered by intentionally Gospel haters. Johnny seemed to be a bit better off getting more long conversation but mostly with people he met before and was taking initiative to reconnect and chat with him. No matter under whatever circumstances, it was still the sovereign Will of God to let thing happened the way it was for the benefit of those who are chosen to love and serve him. We just be patient and submissive to do His Will as He guided us along the way. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung.

1) I first picked the big guy at the end of the long queue for the bus. He simply sat down to wait for the next bus. So I was able to catch up with him as asked if he is from a minor tribe of China like the Uyghur看似新疆維吾爾人, but to my surprise, he is a pure Han man from Guangzhou.廣州,. He was friendly and willing to chat but anther bus just arrived to get him away. He willing took a tract anyway.

2) Then I approached another girl from China. She was also a willing listener but the same fate as the previous one that her bus arrived to cut our conversation short and she also willingly took a tract.

3) Then I approached a Girl with ear speaker. She excused my approach as she was on the phone but still took a tract to read.

4) Then I approached a tall Aussie girl who listened the longest time for the nutshell of the gospel and took the tract when the bus arrived.

5) Then I caught up with a big guy who is a Korean Christian but lack assurance. he attends Korean church in the city. So it was a pity the bus quick arrival did not allow me to clarify further.

6) Then I approached an Indian girl who was originally quite a welcoming listener, but she seemingly was irritated by the issue of sin and that Hinduism worship multiple god heads so she chose to end the conversation and left without a tract.

7) Next I caught up with a girl from Xian西安。 who is also a willing listener, she has many Christian friends so gospel was not strange to her. She appeared to be one step closer to salvation.

8 ) Then I met another Indian who was also friendly and willing to listen and took a tract afterwards.

9) I approached a Muslim dressed lady that I thought she is from Indonesia but actually she is from Singapore. She initially did not reject to chat but I was interrupted before long by a self-righteous Aussie girl to stop our chat pretending, they are friends and wanted to chat amongst themselves.

10) Finally I met yet another Indian man of more mature age. He was also opened to chat and even asked me when did I became a Christian and started doing street outreach. Seemingly he is impressed by our faithfulness to serve God.

Thank you for praying, and please keep praying that God would bring glory to himself by demonstrating his justice and mercy to those we encounter on the streets of Christchurch.  This gospel ministry will be ineffective otherwise.

This week the four usual street outreaches occurred: Tuesday afternoon in Riccarton (Roger and I), Friday afternoon in the city (Roger, Steve, Andy and I), Saturday lunch time in Riccarton (just myself), and Sunday afternoon in the city (Susan and I).

I was first there on Tuesday, and set up my flip chart.  Roger arrived a few minutes later, and I decided to go over with him to his side of the street to help him set up his flip chart.  But as we were crossing the road, 4 teens in school uniform were there and looking at us, as they were walking past.  I had to take the opportunity even before I finished crossing the road, and asked them a question.  I think they were glad, because they actually wanted to talk (well a few of them anyway).  So, without the use of a flip chart, a gospel conversation was underway.

I took them through the law, and started on the gospel, and then Roger took over, so I decided to set up his flip chart.  Just as I finished, a young couple went past, and the guy was instantly interested in the faces on the front page of the flip chart.  It was easy to engage him in a conversation, and they both came to hear the gospel.

But as that conversation was ongoing, Roger had finished his chat with the school kids and came to join me when a guy who was out on the street trying to gain votes for the upcoming city elections went past.  Roger was instantly into a deep conversation with him.  So two separate conversations were going on side by side!  It made it a little bit harder, but it was fine :)

But it didn’t end there!  A guy came past and stopped to stare at the conversations going on - he obviously wanted to say something.  I hate distractions like this, because it can cause existing conversations to end prematurely.  I decided to offer him a tract, which he took, but he was satisfied, he wanted to talk.  So I asked him to give me a minute.  The conversation with the couple had found a good stopping point, they had heard the gospel, it would have been good if I had been able to go through some more check questions, but I ended it there so I could give my attention to the new guy.

It turns out he had seen my flipchart on the other side of the road, and wanted to talk about the pictures on it!  We ended up crossing over to do that (leaving Roger with his flip chart and still talking to the guy trying to get votes!)

Sadly, this guy was extremely self righteous.  He was a “Christian” but had never done anything wrong.  He wasn’t willing to stay and chat, he even handed the tract back.  I think he really wanted to moan about politics.

Well, after that, the politician that had been talking to Roger, came over to talk to me for a few minutes before heading off to pound a few more streets.

I can’t really remember the rest of the outreach.  I know Roger was busy, as per the pictures.  I only remember one other conversation, it was with a guy who turns out to be the nephew of a fellow street evangelist who is praying for his salvation!  Sadly, the guy is still resistant, but I was able to share the law and gospel with him.

Friday’s outreach was fascinating.  It started with a chat with a guy with a girl's name.  He took one of the first tracts I handed out (actually, he bee-lined over to get it).  It was a long chat, where he asked the hardest questions.  But he was given straight answers, and heard the law and the gospel.  When he gave me his name, he was testing me.  I ignored the bait and just proceeded with the conversation.  I knew he was challenged by the law already, and I knew he knew I knew his position on sexuality is sinful - we actually both knew (have I said that right? ;) ).

Part way into the conversation, one of the guys (who claimed to be a satanist) I had talked to in Riccarton a couple of weeks ago came past, and as soon as he saw me, he joined the conversation.  So the 3 of us continued to discuss the gospel and all the important questions surrounding it.

Eventually the first guy left.  We were on good terms, but he was very resistant to the gospel.  The other guy went to have a chat with Roger, while I was off sharing the gospel with others.

Eventually, that guy came back to me.  So, I went straight for a check question, he got it very wrong.  He was keen to chat, so we went and sat down so I could labour with him to understand.  He wasn’t getting it, so I had a thought, I decided to use the flip chart app I had on my phone (Apple & Android).  Maybe the pictures would help!  It’s the first time I’ve used it in action, and it worked well - although I need to make the images fullscreen.  By the end of the chat, he at least was able to articulate that it’s not his works that save him, but instead only Jesus' sacrifice that saves him.  Although, I don’t think the reality of that has sunk in yet - In God’s timing, I pray that it does!

Saturday’s outreach was busy, but I’m only going to highlight 2 of those chats.

The first was with a guy with a Christian background who seemed to already have come to the understanding that it wasn’t his bible reading and prayer that saved him, but Jesus alone.  He was just hungry to learn more, and so he was super happy to have found me on the street corner.  His friend was Catholic, and she heard the gospel.  She moved on, and I was able to encourage the guy in finding a church that would be able to feed him.  I invited him along to my church, as he lived close.

The second was with a guy who had just lost his friend in a car accident the previous Wednesday! :(  Times like these are pivotal in people's lives, and God gave me the opportunity to minister the gospel into his life!  He questioned everything I said, but in a good way.  He needed to challenge it - and I was happy for that, because maybe that will help him understand it.

Oh, one other cool chat.  A kid I had talked to a couple of Saturdays ago came back, this time with a friend.  He wanted his friend to hear the gospel!  It was a pivotal conversation, because although the friend was a church goer, he admitted he was trusting in his works for salvation before the chat, and was professing faith alone by the end of it.  Glory to God.

I’m out of time, Sunday’s outreach involved long conversations with streeties (homeless).  One girl in particular was very keen to chat.  She claimed to be Christian, but it was clear that her understanding of what that meant wasn’t right (close, but oh so far).  So, we sat down and I laboured the gospel with her.  There was a lot of distraction with all the other streeties around.  I was able to semi-engage a few of the other ones, but the girl kept coming back from more gospel.  I was slowly able to work through check questions with her.

To end the outreach, Susan and I headed down to the other end of the mall (bridge of remembrance), where I was able to have a great chat with 4 girls who go to a local church where I was able to clarify exactly what justifies us: Jesus' sacrifice alone!  All glory to him!

Battle Log of Operation 513 for Sunnybank on Wednesday September 28th, 2022 from 1300 – 1600

It was a normal day for outreach with just Johnny and Hung as all others are not available during school term break caring for their kids. Sunny bank was with more people flow than Toowong yesterday. There were mixed responses from people we met but at the end of the day, both of us had many chances to share the Gospel to people of all nations. Both Johnny and Hung had more chances to catch up with people from Mainland China with better successful rate. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung:

1) I first caught up with a young lady who is an ABC. Her parent is from Hunan Changshaé•·æ²™. She has been back to Changsha a couple of time. So, I could identify with her and earned her trust to listen to the gospel with good and positive result.

2) Then I approached a young man from Beijing 北京 to come for study having arrived in Brisbane for 2, 3 months. 剛開始來2、3月He claimed he is a member of the communist party yet he showed exceptional receptiveness to listen to the Gospel and took a tract. 黨員, 肯聴 & 拿單張

3) Seksayhj , a Cambodian who came to Australia at young age. He claimed he has a few Christian friends and even followed them to go to church a couple of times yet still just pursuing. I went through the full gospel with him and he appeared quite receptive to the gospel message with better and clear understanding.

4) I sat beside an Old Aussie who was not interested but I still shared the full gospel to him.

5) Then I approached three Africans but they claimed they cannot speak English.

6) Then I approached an Indonesian girl who simply avoided me by walking away to a far distance.

7) Then I shared with a lady from Mainland China who was willing to listen and took a tract afterwards. 中國女子.願意聽拿單張

8 ) Next I caught up with a Graffith student young man by the name of Jiang 姜from Nantung, Suzhou,南通蘇州半. He has come for half a year still adapting to the life in Australia. He was very talkative and willing to listen to the gospel.

9) Two young ladies from Beijing北京,and Shenzhen 深圳 respectively. They are students of UQ. Both were willing to listen to the gospel and we kept on chatting for a long while about the status of Christianity in China. 願聽,多聊

10) A approached a local Aussie lady who was friendly. Yet the bus came too quickly so she could only get a tract from me.

11) Finally, I caught up with a young lady from Shanghai who quickly identified herself as Christian. She once attended SIC. I tested on her assurance of salvation but found that she does not have full 100% assurance of salvation. She thanked for my clarification.
