Posted 18 July 2018, 3:48 PM by Glenda Barnard. PermalinkPraise God for a lady named Wendy who walked past then on her way back stopped and asked for a Bible for her son who has just become a believer.
Wendy is a Christian. Please pray for her son Matthew. She was so happy as she was on her way to meet up with Matthew to be able to give him his own Bible. I gave a few resources and Gospel tracts that may help Mathew in his growth.
Anne from Inglewood wanted a Bible. She says her old one is falling apart. She was not able to chat for long so I gave her tracts with the Gospel message. She knows the family I have been able to give some Bibles to previously who are also from Inglewood - Douglas & Emma and their nine children. Pray for them all.
Pray for Alan who says he is born again but he also said a few things that I don't agree with in salvation. He says we have a choice. I believe we have the responsibility to respond in trust and obedience but God is Sovereign in it all - by drawing us by His Spirit convicting us of sin and our need for Jesus to save us. God opens our heart and saves us. He gives us a new heart that loves Jesus and the glorious Gospel!
We will want to follow His ways even though we still sin, we are Righteous in His sight only by the grace from our heavenly Father through His one and only Son Jesus. It sounds like he has Jesus plus our works. When I was saying works is fruit but does not save, he said that we have a part in Salvation (which is adding works to be saved).
He says he will come back next week with some Bible verses. This is a difficult truth for many but God's ways are not our ways. The Bible teaches that we are chosen by God for good works, but it is all by His grace we are saved not works. So pray I have wisdom and use scripture to point to God's Sovereignty in Salvation & encourage him in the Gospel.
Thanks for praying and for the people of God who donate to the Ministry.
All Glory be to God.
God bless.

As the team heads out into Brisbane city again tonight, here are the photos from last week's outreach.
The team were encouraged with the various gospel conversations that were had, with some people coming to grasp the gospel for the very first time. This included a lady named Jacinta, who attends a Catholic Church but thought her own goodness would get her to heaven.
When she heard that salvation is a free gift simply received through faith in Jesus, it was like a light bulb turned on in her head. She was then encouraged to count the cost of following Jesus, but at the same time to not delay.
To God be all the glory!

Posted 16 July 2018, 5:18 PM by Gordon Jackson. PermalinkA team of 5 today whose age range covered 5 decades. We had 3 in the bus stop and 2 outside the library which is close by.
Lee-Anne had a long chat with Travis who started with "I don't believe in anything I cannot see". As the conversation progressed, it became apparent that he had more than a superficial knowledge of the Bible. He did not like the holiness of God. He would have accepted a god who loved him the way he was and with no judgment. Lee-Anne patiently showed him Scriptures as she worked past his defenses to the good news. He left with a gospel of John and our prayers that God would break through his defenses.
An interesting act of providence: I handed a lady a tract 'Intelligence Test' then realized that was not what I had intended to do. I managed to give her a 'Law' tract. Her response was, "This should be interesting. I am a lawyer"
Meanwhile a trial run with the flip chart was being done.
The results as always are in His keeping. We give Him all the glory for what He does through His imperfect (but justified) servants.

We were to know by the end of our outreach one reason why God did this. There were 4 Indian gentlemen who had been brought up in a R.C. grounding. As they were taken through the law and gospel, understanding seems to have been granted them. They, each one, expressed a desire to trust Christ alone this very day. Once the fog of tradition is blown away, the simplicity of God's salvation is so relieving. Eph. 2:8-10 shows God's prevenient grace produces saving faith which invariably produces God's good works. There can be no merit in doing what we are supposed to be doing as His children, Lk. 17:7-10. Our works, which God prepared beforehand that we should do, are the Christian response of love, e.g. Jn.15:14 +1 John 5:3 " For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."
God was doing more than this but all His works are glorious as they exhibit His glorious being. To Him alone be the glory and we thank Him for the privilege of serving Him once again in this way.

Our first 2 chats were with people we had not seen before.
Ryan chatted with a 15 year old, Connor. He was 'hard as nails' to the gospel but deeply 'in love' with his sins. He had the usual misconception that hell would be full of his mates. He heard that God was in charge of His prison and there would be no partying with his mates there for he would spend eternity under the wrath of God. He did not care. Only the grace of God can help the spiritually dead to come alive!
I had an open chat with Byron who knew much about the Bible, e.g. Jer 23:6/Rom. 4 The Lord our righteousness. He thought he would enter heaven as he was considerate of others and generally sounded like one who was seriously trying to 'love his neighbor'. Pointing out the need to love God first and foremost, and working through the law and gospel, Byron seemed to understand. He also knew the Blondin illustration on believing involving giving the Lord control of his life. He was referred to a church in his suburb - he needs to forsake some lifestyle sins and needs to be discipled. Pray that he follows through.
The work goes on until the Lord Jesus Christ returns. We give God triune all the praise and glory. Amen

The Lord encouraged our hearts on this day as we altogether had 4 preachers preach at Speakers Corner.
When we started there was absolutely no body in sight, and as we preached at one point a small crowd of students stopped to listen to the preaching of the gospel. There were small number of crowds that stopped throughout our preaching course.
I also got to hand out many of our Op513 tracts to students passing by. We look to our great God to bring the increase.
Please pray for our next outreach on Friday (6th July) as we will be having that on South Mall in Manurewa South Auckland, closer to our church where there are many homeless folk that loiter there and sleep along that footpath, we will be handing out food, gospel tracts and preaching open air.
